How do our therapists work with clients?
Our therapists work using the Multigenerational Family Therapy Framework developed by Prof. Dr. Maurizio Andolfi.
In the first three to four sessions, we focus on understanding the systemic dimension of clients’ lives, including interactive patterns and developmental history including family-of-origin influences across at least three generations.
With a comprehensive view of the family system, therapists then collaborate with all parties to establish meaningful and shared goals. Interventions are introduced to support personal and relational transformation.
Our clinical work aims to reduce presenting symptoms and, more importantly, foster deep, long-lasting changes within family or interpersonal relationships.
What are the fees?
Pricing is from RM200 - RM500 per session. Each session is between 60-90 minutes long and takes place weekly (or every other week).
It's common to experience, in total, 20 sessions, though the number of sessions depends on the complexity of the situation. Some families (or couples/individuals) require only 6-7 sessions before they have what they need.
The per-session fee is not linked to the experience of the counsellor (every counsellor is free to determine how much they want to charge).
For families who are in financial distress, we do have low bono services available at RM50 - RM150 per session.
If a session goes longer than 75 minutes, there are no extra fees.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Fill out this form. Our coordinator will reply in 72 hours to arrange an appointment with you and assign you a therapist.
Alternatively, you may email us at enquiry@andolfi.my, or drop us a WhatsApp message at +6010 2112698.
How do I cancel my appointment?
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Booked sessions must be cancelled or reschedule 24 hours prior to the session.
I’d like to have family therapy but I'm unable to bring my whole family – what do I do?
It is best to bring the whole family. Talk to your counsellor for numerous ways on how you can encourage your family to attend.
I booked individual therapy sessions but also brought my spouse, will I be charged the same?
Fees are charged by session, not by the number of participants in the session. So the fees will be the same.
What about confidentiality?
Andolfi Family Therapy Centre is a teaching Centre that trains mental health professionals. In line with this, the teachers at the Centre might use the themes of the case for teaching professionals who would like to become family therapists.

However, identifiable information will be generally altered to protect the identities of the clients. This includes names, professions, details of personal history, where possible ethnic grouping, age, family composition, and gender. Students are more interested in the therapeutic interventions (how the therapist transformed the family) than the client’s personal details.
Outside the scope of teaching, discussions between the therapist(s) and the client(s) are confidential. No information will be released to a third party without the client(s)’ written consent unless mandated by law.
Are sessions tax-deductible?
Yes, there's tax relief for medical or consultation expenses involving registered psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and counsellors.
