About the event
This is a closed-door session designed for therapists and counsellors.Â
We will watch a prerecorded therapy session conducted by Professor Maurizio Andolfi that focuses on a teenage boy's internet addiction as he conducts the session in the presence of the boy's mother and grandparents. Maurizio uses a systemic approach to treat mental and emotional disorders that focus on the individual's entire system of relationships and interactions. This approach views the person as a whole rather than just focusing on the individual's symptoms or behaviours.
One of the key principles of systemic therapy is that the problem or disorder is not located solely within the individual but is also a product of the individual's interaction with their environment and relationships. Maurizio works with the client to identify patterns of interaction contributing to the problem and helps the client and his family understand how these patterns may be causing the addiction.
